Overpopulation In India (How We Fight) Causes & Solutions :
India is facing huge social problems in unemployment, poverty, and pollution in today's time. A root cause of it all can be blamed on Overpopulation. In this Blog I discuss some realistic solutions to overpopulation problem and how Fertility rate is related to Literacy rate:
Predictions Rate of
Overpopulation In India
In 2015 India's Population was a whopping 1.31 Billion. Predictions shows in 2022 India will over take china to become world's most populous country That's just five years from now Earlier predictions cited year 2028 for this to happen But India's Population is growing so rapidly, that it will reach that mark in 6 years advance And it isn't a matter of pride Over Population leads to poverty, Unemployment leads to climate change.
which pressurises the natural resources like forests and Land leads to increase in social and religious conflicts So overpopulation is regarded as the root cause of most of the problems in this part of the world The condition has really worsened and is visible everywhere like markets and public places If you want to get an Idea of the situation.
What are the main factors that causes of
overpopulation in india ?
is a scenario wherein the living human population increases to an undesired level, i.e the total number of humans living in an area/region/country exceeds the sustainable level. The population is increasing at a very high rate and now has reached a point where it is being considered as a major concern for many countries around the world.
In this BLOG I am going to discuss about some possible solutions which can be used to tackle the problem of overpopulation whenever we are discussing solutions for overpopulation, China's one child policy comes first mostly, in our minds They think India Government too should follow china and Implement this policy to restrict, the birth of more than one child .
But most of the people dont know That China's one child policy was a failure thirty years later in 2015 they ended this policy This policy lead to a huge gender imbalance and increase in female feticide.
How could we end overpopulation ethically?
Overpopulation In India:
You don’t end it. Because there is nothing to end.
Overpopulation is a myth.
It was popularized as an argument for genocide and conquest in the far past. In the modern world it was spread by and incompetent economist
This happened because like India, China too is traditionally a patriarchal society
where people prefer at least one male child over a female child So when the government restricted the number of child to one so people preferred to go for female feticide to have a male child not girl this led to a huge gender imbalance which made China a world's worst sex ratio country in 2004 122 males is to 100 females this huge gap in male female population led to some ill practices BRIDE PRICE in which brides were bought in return of money in few case brides use to runaway with the money within few days of the marriage so one child policy led to all these problems.
so we can conclude the one child policy is not a good solution to fight overpopulation in case of India forced sterilisation too was suggested as a solution to counter over population this thing in fact had already been tried in India During the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi in 1976 when her son Sanjay Gandhi lead a forceful sterilisation program In which 10 million people were sterilised there were few incidents of forceful sterilisation people were compelled to go and get sterilised.
But surprisingly!! even after sterilising 10 million people there was no evident effect of this on population growth no noticeable change was observed!! this shows forceful imposing of unplanned policies wont lead to a change And above all its very unethical to sterilise someone forcefully because reproduction is a very basic Human right
No one should get to decide how many child a person can have its immoral and unethical
so forced sterilisation cant be regarded as a solution in todays world So it all melts down to this question.
what can be the effective and realistic solutions against
overpopulation in india ?
and answer to this is a little boring and it is the investment in education and health care
and to understand this we must know
what fertility rate means
fertility rate of a country is the average number of children a woman gives birth to
in her life time , if fertility rate of a country is 2 that means every woman in that country gives birth to 2 children on an average. which means the number of people dying are equal number of children born This makes population stable this is why 2 fertility rate is called REPLACEMENT fertility "theoratically " but in reality many children die during the birth itself
so realistically.
The replacement fertility rate is taken as 2.2 and if any country's population
is near about this replacement fertility rate then in future it will remain stable
so to end over population we must aim to maintain fetility rate of the country close to 2.2
and why I am saying that education is the only solution to fight against over population
because fertility rate and literacy rate, both are surprisingly interdependent higher the literacy rate lower the fertility rate this pattern is observed in many places of the world over.
Is human overpopulation a problem?
Overpopulation In India :

I think it probably is, but not for the sorts of reasons that people typically cite.
What I’d like to share with you in this answer, is what happened in the experimental mouse utopia of Universe 25, and what that might mean for human populations.
As well as indian states or instance kerala the state with highest literacy rate in India nearly 100% literacy rate has a very low fertility rate you can see in this two charts how fertility rates an literacy rates are correlated in each state of India you can see Madhya Pradesh Rajsthan Uttar pradesh in the center literacy rates are very low and evidently the fertility rate is very high!!! in fact very few states of india have fertility rates above 2.2 in whole India those are Rajasthan Madhya Pradesh Utar Pradesh and Bihar and because of this states India's population is Increasing because rest of all the other states have come down below this replacemen fertility rate so as an individual the easiest thing one can do is;
To vote those political parties which are serious about Public Education the governments of the states of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh , Delhi, and Tripura Have increased the Budget for Education by a good amount Unfortunately our Central govt and many other state government Don't seem interested in giving Education any priority.
The share of Education was 4.57 % of the total budget During 2013's congress govt. It gradually fell down in 2014, 15, 16 to become 3.65% in 2017 this shows this govt is giving least priority to the Education and is siphoning out the money from its budget to put it somwhere else The root cause of all the problems which is overpopulation nothing is being done to fight it
on the other hand money is bieng wasted on statues Advertisements in the name of cow protection and what not no one seems interested in improving literacy rate conditions are worst in the states of MP, UP, Bihar, Rajasthan which are critical states for the populations point of view the polticians over there are promoting overpopulation few of them suggest to have atleast 4 kids education minister of Rajasthan who is responsible for the right Education of the people is endorsing myths and superstitions like Cow inhales Carbon-di-Oxide and Exhales Oxyge therefore It is really important for these states to especially focus on Education.
And to vote those people who focus on this:
